The one hour long educational presentation will be followed by a brief opportunity to discuss residents’ concerns or questions about air quality in Alhambra and Monterey Park. Presentation topics to be covered include air pollution, what Purple Air Sensors are and how they work, measuring air pollutants like Particulate Matter 2.5, and much more.
APIFM would like to acknowledge that we are all facing extremely challenging and unprecedented times. There are over 20 wildfires on the West Coast, threatening lives, structures, forests, animal habitat, and air quality. The Bobcat Fire in the Angeles National Forest is affecting our neighbors living in the San Gabriel Valley foothill communities - we keep them in our thoughts and extend our gratitude to all first responders who are working to contain the wildfires. Please check out the piece we published in Alhambra Source entitled, "Protecting Lungs From Wildfire Smoke" (https://www.alhambrasource.org/story/tips-protecting-lungs-from-wildfire-smoke), for more information about what you can do to protect yourself from unhealthy air.
