Emergency funding in the past few years helped my organization survive unprecedented unpredictability and rapid change. The general sense of urgency seems to be subsiding, but the unpredictability remains. How do we make strategic decisions about our budget when we don’t know what the future holds?
My organization has grown in recent years, because we saw a need (e.g. new or expanded services, digital programming, compensation increases, etc.). How can we sustain this new cost structure in the long term?
My organization has had an increase in flexible funding during the pandemic, and it’s had a positive impact on our financial health. I’m concerned that our current financial picture makes it look like we don’t need renewed support, or that our funders are going to go back to very restrictive funding practices.
