Workplace Discrimination Panel

Dear friends,

At the end of 2023, we launched our Workplace Justice Initiative. Since then, we've received incredible support from our community and national news coverage in Bloomberg, NextShark, and AsAm News.

We're so excited for 2024, where our first event will be a national Workplace Discrimination Panel next week, January 9th from 12PM-1PM PT.

A recent report by the Pew Research Center on workplace discrimination shows that about 9 in 10 Asian Americans have experienced discrimination of some form. However, according to a survey SwAA conducted in collaboration with Blind, few resources exist to assist Asian professionals in fighting back. About 23% of those surveyed reported having the appropriate resources to address discrimination.

Joining us on our panel will be an amazing roster of speakers.

Charles Jung of Nassiri & Jung is an attorney who guides clients through moments of crisis, sharing authentic storytelling in court, in the press, or in the community to reframe narratives, create social change and achieve personal redemption.

Neil Ruiz is the Head of New Research Initiatives at the Pew Research Center. He is also the principal investigator of the Center’s comprehensive study of Asian Americans, where he serves as an associate director of race and ethnicity research.

Vaishnavi J was the global head of youth policy at Meta. She is passionate about workplace equity and advocating for minorities. She is a member of SwAA and is focused on reporting on and advocating for workplace justice for the Asian community.

The panel will be moderated by SwAA’s Brian Pang, PMP. Brian is a tenured games industry Product Development Director who has led studio and brand teams to deliver 45+ AAA game titles. He serves as a lead, board member and advisor for several organizations centered on advancing the Asian American equity and justice movements.

In solidarity,

Justin Zhu
