Current tax rules enable wealthy donors to obtain generous tax deductions while warehousing most of their charitable funds for decades or more. As a result, more than $1 trillion dollars is not reaching front-line charities in desperate need right now.
This Town Hall - the first in a series of two - will discuss:
What are the current rules governing philanthropy, especially foundations and donor-advised funds? How do these operate in practice?
Are wealthy people using these vehicles to game the system?
