Letter from the Executive Director Greetings! There have been a lot of changes as well as growth with the Asian Pacific Community Fund this past year. We are working harder than ever to provide for those in need. In this unstable economy, I am asked on a regular basis, "how is your agency doing in these tough times?" ![]() I would like to say that we are not affected by what is happening but that simply isn't the case. As companies and individuals face downturns in their own organizations, funding for the Asian Pacific Community Fund is much more difficult to secure. However, there are some who are maintaining their level of support to the community and some who are doing even more because they know that the needs are growing. A couple of months ago, I received a phone call from the Eastern Gateway Division of Wells Fargo Bank. I was asked if I would be available to attend a breakfast event in order to receive a $1,000 donation. You can imagine what a pleasant surprise this was. I learned that every year, the managers of each Wells Fargo Branch Office are given the opportunity to make a $1,000 donation on behalf of Wells Fargo to a charity of their choice. This year, the Asian Pacific Community Fund was chosen by the Senior Vice President/Regional President of the Eastern Gateway Division, Andy Wong. On October 22, 2008, I along with over 30 other charity representatives attended the Community Support Breakfast hosted by Andy Wong and Wells Fargo to receive the generous donation. It's moments like these, when we receive an unexpected and unsolicited donation, that sustains us through these difficult economic times. On behalf of the Asian Pacific Community Fund, I want to thank Andy Wong, Wells Fargo and all of you for your continued support. We wish you a safe, warm and healthy holiday season. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Sincerely, Debra Fong |
